| Like the sun rising, the world awakened. The white void fading in and with it, them. Three sisters, opening their eyes. They stood in a circle, facing one another. Red, green and purple, their hair the only difference between, save for their expressions.
"Good morning!" Accident chirped happily to the others. Nature smiled back, but Cause simply grunted, glancing away. Nature and Accident looked at her thoughtfully. Nature spoked up first. "I've thought of something." That drew two sets of eyes to her. She smiled at her sisters and lifted a hand. At a thought, the environment shifted. Instead of void, the place became a cozy study. Fine wood, expensive furnishings, the whole nine yards. Even a roaring fire and a cold night outside to be pushed back, making the spot even more cozy. Cause scoffed faintly at the ostentatious setting, but took immediately towards the leather couch, dropping onto it carelessly, laid out in a lazy sprawl. "Oooo!" Accident's happy coo as she hopped over to one of the comfy seats, where a small end table held a proper mug of cocoa. It even had.. "Marshmallows!" Delighted, she curled into the chair, claiming hte mug at once. Nature smirked as she approached another plush chair, sinking into it smoothly. Her eyes closed, enjoying the luxury quietly for a few moments before she looked to her sisters. "I've been thinking about us. What we are, what we could be." She paused a moment for effect, then noted, "We're parts of a whole. You remember before… before us. It was just her. Then we became like mom." Cause glanced over, but said nothing. And Accident looked up from her first sip, a dot of brown dripping from her nose. "I remember. It was confusing, being her, then us." Nature nodded. "But, we have troubles like this. We shouldn't be her. We weren't meant to be. But as we are now, we are turbulent. Times like this will come. And I know we don't want this. To do this, we must decide how to be we together. I think I know what we want, if not how." Accident was rapt. And Cause even gave her sister a sidelong glance as she feingned her disinterest. Nature smiled and said, "We should be us, all the time. Because together we are stronger than apart." She could see that her words confused her sisters. She expected this. In this moment, they did not share thoughts as they did when trading bodies. She would have to explain it. "We are not whole apart. We have strengths and weaknesses." Nature looked at Cause. "You are our strength. Our resolve. You are power, battle and fury. You fortify us against everything that would seek to destroy us." Cause answered with a huff, her eyes closing. "So?" Nature smiles as she looked to Accident, who had a pensive look about her. "And you, sister. You are our heart. Goodness and gentleness. Our fun, our frolic." Accident was drawn from her thoughts by this, a bright smile offered in response. "And I.." Nature paused, considering briefly. "I bind us." She glances between her sisters. "Not as strong." She glances at Cause. "Not as pleasant." She looks to Accident. "But focused. Keeping us together. And that is what we should be. Together. Not as her, but as us. As one." Silence fell as the two looked at her in a mutual air of confusion. They even looked at one another. Then, as one, they asked, "How?" Nature smiled and shook her head. "I don't know. The challenge is the path. But I think we're starting it. I.. feel it. We're together. We're learning one another. Teaching one another. Coming closer together." She motioned to Accident. "Showing us your art." She then motioned to Cause. "Lending us strength. SHowing us how to be you." She smiles. "And I, helping us to reach past to see what this could be. Without each of us, we would not be here, together. Learning. Growing." Silence fell again and Nature let them think. Leaning back, her eyes closed. Enjoying the simple comfort. Simple pleasures. The best pleasures. "So you think we'll be, like, one but not one?" Cause's gruff voice rises. "Yes." Nature answered without opening her eyes. "That is what we will be." Accident looked confused. "I don't know how. But I want to be closer to my sisters." Confusion melding to determination as she stated as much. Nature smiled, her eyes opening. "I think it's probably easier than you both think. This place is our mind. If we want it, it appears. If we want it, we can be it." She looked between the two. "If we agree, if we all want it, why wouldn't that be?" Accident was wide eyed at the realization. Cause looked skeptical. Nature did not seem surprised by either. "That's what I think, anyway." She looks at Cause then. "What do you think?" Cause frowned at Nature. "I think it sounds weird. Dunno if I wanna be this.. Whatever you're talking about. I like me." "I understand," Nature answered. "Think about it, sister. We rely on one another. We do it by trading places. We take our turns. But if what I'm considering works, we wouldn't have to trade. All of us, always." She paused, seeing Cause was still uncertain. "Scared?" That got an instant reaction. Surprise bleeding instantly into anger. Cause even half sat up, a sneer on her lips. "You know who you're talking to?" "I know exactly who you are," Nature answered easily. "And I know you love control. You don't like to submit. To let go." She leans forward. "But to do this, we have to give in to one another. Accept one another. Be committed. We will give up part of ourselves.. Some of our freedom. But we might gain back some of that freedom. The freedom for all of us to be. All the time." Cause didn't lose her scowl, but she didn't dispute her sister's words. "You don't even know if it will work," she grumps after a few moments, looking away. "True, because we've never done it before. But why would we let that stop us?" Nature smiled, glancing over at Accident, who smiled back. Accident popped up to her feet, hopping over to Cause. "We can do things together," she says, leaning over Cause to meet her eyes, hands braced against the back of the couch. "Like what we do. Your mean and my fun. Maybe.. You can twist someone's arm into a pretty shape. You'd like that, right? I would, if it was pretty." Cause peered back at Accident with a skeptical look, prompting the green topped triplet to purse her lips a little. "Well, maybe not as much as you do," she condeeded. "But it would be with you, sister." Cause sighed, but her mood didn't drop. It was hard for her to really be angry with Accident. Her earnestness disarming to the aggressive woman. "Fine.." Breathed out heavily. "I will try this. So what do you want us to do?" She turned a firm look on Nature. "For now, let's just do what we're doing. We're not ready yet." She rises up. "Let's start our night. Maybe we should go to the beach?" "The beach!" Accident hopped up, spilling her cocoa in the process. But she hardly noticed as she hopped up and down. Cause snorted, but answered a moment later, "Fine." She rolled lazily to her feet. "Might be something interesting to do there. If you think up something interesting for me." Her look towards Nature was challenging, which was met with an amused look from Nature. "I'll see what I can do," Nature answered with a faint smirk. | |
