| == January 9, 2009 Okay, I decided to start a diary, no more like a journal. A heck lets just call it a log, like a Captain's Log except I'm not a Captain and I'm writing this on paper. Why? Well, lets just say that I'm kinda old fashioned that way and I've recently met someone who has made me aware that electronics can sometimes fail so I would sad, if everything I wrote down regarding my thoughts, research and feelings got erased, like poof gone in the big hard drive or operating system crash. Well, it's been almost two months since I came to Oahu, Hawaii on a vacation and lets just say that it has turned into more than just an extended vacay. I needed a break after graduation and was planning on working at a clinic in either Seattle or San Fran but now that I've spent time here, I'm really really enjoying it. The people, the food, the atmosphere and there is something else. I feel like I'm needed here and it is hard to explain but I just get this strong vibe that there are things I need to do on the island. Also, I know for sure now, that not everything is beautiful in Hawaii after my encounter with an Aswang. I never thought I would run into something like this here but it happened and things didn't exactly turn out as planned shall we say. I was lucky that I had help from others, others kind of like me I suppose but not exactly. A few shape shifters it seems, a jaguar, a unicorn and a dragon of all things. I found out that the owner of the hostel, I'm staying looked mighty fine with no clothes on riding that unicorn and there was also this tattooed lady who swore a lot, not to mention a big Nordic guy as well as a ninja lady. So it seems like there are more than a few protectors already in Oahu, which is a good thing but also points to the fact that there is a lot more of a supernatural presence here than I first thought. I'm sure I will learn more about the community here as time goes on but for now, I will take things slow, get my bearings and figure out finding a job first as well as a more permanent place to live. But yes, back to what happened with the Aswang. I recognized it as soon as I saw it leaping from roof to roof, so I went up there to confront it and may have been a little too hasty to challenge it to go back to it's own plane. It kinda gotta angry, attacked me and I had to defend myself which was partly my fault for being so reckless. I should have stayed calm, think before I leaped but I tried to be Jackie Chan and think I could take it on all by myself with just my wits as well as my martial arts training. Suffice to say, things went south from there, well more like down and it knocked me off the roof. Luckily or from the blessings of the Tao there were some garbage cans that broke my fall, so I wasn't seriously injured just knocked out with a minor concussion, some bruises and a hard lesson learned. Afterwards, I started doing a lot of research on the Aswang to better prepare myself for any future encounter and I will start doing some patrols to try to track it down once I get more settled in. I was quite successful in my research and discovered a lot of in depth information on what I was dealing with. I think I have a much better plan this time around but the hard part will be finding the Aswang. Hopefully, the Tao will guide me to it when the time is right but I might need some help to actively track it since I'm not very familiar with Oahu and to be honest I kinda suck at tracking. Well, I better get going I have to go get ready to head out to a magic show. I'll write more about that next time and until then, log out. - Kai | |
