Plot(s)

Plot:The Gifts of Oahu

As Kirk nears, it becomes obvious he's reacted to the strange haze with a little makeshift protection. A simple, dark handkerchief he's bound over his nose and mouth as if he were set to rob someone. But the eyes above the cloth are anything but hard and set to make trouble. His eyes are cast down to the side, searching amongst the rolling surf for whatever it is he's gathering. And before he can take note of the others, there is the noise and rumble, prompting a pause as he looks towards it with a furrowed brow. Faintly concerned.

Joachim shook his head. "I... admit I wasn't paying attention. I like the weather to surprise me. Kind of like a suckerpunch." He waved a hand in front of his face. "This is sort of unpleasant though I gotta say. I'd rather not have to chew my food." He grinned in response to Logan's grunt, even as his eyes tracked to the flash of sick lightning amidst the fog. "That does look ominous. And I have learned that things that look ominous are usually worse." He sighed and looked about, eyebrows going up. "Well shit. Hey Aloha Kirk! Come on over join us." He thumbed through the vog towards where the lightning had come from. "I think I'm going to go take a looksee. If it's a cool light show all well and good." He muttered under his breath and removed his shirt to wrap it around his face, bringing the googles back down over his eyes from when he'd been swimming. "There... now I look like a moron, but a prepared moron."

From out near the reef, just before the Vog overtook their position, two heads popped up out of the water. One of those heads was without a respirator or diving gear, but the other was covered in a diving mask and scuba breathing apparatus. The one without the apparatus was Mila, as some might recognize her from shore, or might mistake her for her twin Keha. She looked up at the impending wall of Vog and dry-Vog-lightning and let out a little squeaking sound. "Vee! We need to get to land." Then she reached over and grabbed the other woman, presumably by an arm or something since it was underwater and unseen, then started dragging them both with powerful strokes of her arms and kicks of her legs in toward shore.

"Best review I ever got was 'Lemmy gargling a metal bucket of nails'," Logan informs Muriel. "Like I said, ain't no-one wants to hear me sing." He twists around to look at the new arrival, but rather than greet Kirk he simply makes room for the man in the group. Joachim's goggles get eyed. "I got a couple cogs you can stick on if you want to look /real/ dumb," he offers.

Breaking the surface, Volya pulled the respirator out of her mouth, grinning happily. "Mesh bag! Mesh bag!" she yelled triumphantly. Blinking, the woman was slower on the uptake on the situation than Mila. "Wait, wha?" Taking a breath of air, she coughed and shook her head. "Nope." Testing her respirator, she put it back in as she was dragged towards shore.

The vog was indeed rolling in, and it actually kept right on the tail of the two women as they swam, overtaking them a good 30 feet before they made shore. It looks, for all intents and purposes, like a wall of thick, dense color coming to claim its place on the beach. The lightning didn't slow up, either.

Muriel peers around and actually laughs as she hears rumbling thunder. "Oooh, and a storm approaching too? How exciting!" she exclaims, cool eyes peering around with amusement as she feels the cool foggy wind on her skin, without a care in the world, almost as if she were unmindful of any potential danger of the weather. She just smirks at Logan, shaking her head, "Well there be some reason' ye carry around a guitar, and maybe others dun' want to hear you, but I do~" she croons, finally glancing around and spying a Kirk, grinning and waving at him. "Kirk, aloha!"

As the vog makes it's way in fully and Joa prepares to go endure it, Bjorn shakes his head in a mixture of amusement and disbelief. "I think my lungs will never forgive me for it." He pulls his shirt off as well, revealing that he's as cut everywhere. He either must stay very active or never eat carbs. Covering his face with it though he adds, "If you have other people rushing to shore to get away from it's Probably something I'll avoid staying around in too long."

Kirk glances towards the gathered when he's called out to, paused a moment before he turns towards to approach. "Good morning. Though not so good now, I suppose." His voice only faintly muffled by the makeshift mask over his face. He notes Joachim preparing to go in, so to speak. "Might not be the best idea, really. I doubt breathing in this stuff is good for you. And just how much this helps is debatable." He tugs his mask lightly. He nods his head to Muriel as well. "A pleasure once more," he offers to her. Though after a moment he feels compelled to note, "The bad air can't be good for your voice." A serious detail, given his tone.

Spotting two familiar heads bobbing along in the water, Joachim called out to both, gesturing in the fog. "Hey! Out there! Shore is this way come on!" He lowered his shirt to smile at Logan and shrugged. "I don't exactly want to be breathing this stuff, but I can't let the opportunity go by to see whatever the hell that is." He pointed to the lightning that swept up from behind the fog. "Volcanic lightning super fog is something to write about." He laughed as he raised his shirt back up, muffling himself slightly as he called out to Bjorn. "Take care man! Probably smarter than me." He grinned at Muriel and looked back to Logan. "She'll keep at you. You should probably just go and get it over with." He eyed Kirk through his goggles and waved. "Got caught up in all this too huh? Crazy right?" He gestured again. "I'm planning to go check it out. Want to come see?"

Mila covered her mouth and coughed sharply as she finally made it to about chest deep in the water and started running up through the ocean instead of swimming. Water was pouring down from her hair along the sides of her head and neck as she escaped the clutches of the Vog for a moment and blinked, rubbing at her eyes. "Man, I hate this stuff. Pele's in one of her damn moods today, neh?" She looked over at the gathering people on the shore and lifted her hand. "Aloha over there, you guys be safe in this crap. It's bad for the lungs!" And then the vog rolled in over her, occluding her for the most part, save for the violently bright, neon yellow bikini she'd had on while reef diving with Volya. "Big guy has the right idea! Cover your mouth and nose if you can!" She pulled a mesh bag filled with what looked like trash collected from the reef over her arm and looked at Vee. "Come on, Vee. Let's get this crap back to the condo."

Volya headed to shore, mostly driven rather than swimming under her own power. Stumbling in the shore, she picked off her flippers and got her feet under her. As massive rose above the water, she groaned, her respirator still hissing with each breath. Stumbling onto the shore, Volya dropped the mesh bag and flippers as she worked off her vest and tank, down to a lime green two-piece. The blonde was hesitate to take out the respirator. Growling at Mila, Volya's skin was already picking up shades of pink. "Why is there no love from Pele!?!" Hissing, she shouldered the tank, spinning with the weight to pick up her mesh bag and flippers. "Even the air hates us!"

When the Vog finally touched the barrier of the sand, it didn't seem to make a difference to its forward progression. Obviously this stuff meant to make it to the line of mountains that separated the Windward Coast from the rest of the Island well before lunch time. The electrical current of that sickly, yellow lightning could be felt as it struck down onto the sand at the edge of the water, making the water around the area of the strike sizzle loudly like someone had dropped it onto a red-hot skillet. A second strike came a moment later, then a third, combining the scent of ozone, cooked and melted sand thta had become glass, and the nasty scent of volcanic fog into one fragrant treat for the nose.

Logan, having greeted the morning with a scowl, now turns that scowl more specifically on Muriel. "Which bit of 'no' are you failin' to understand? My amp's bust, there's yellow shit coming in off the sea, it's too early to get a beer and now there's some damn doxy wearing three scraps of jack all who wants me to sing?" He exhales. "Well... maybe if you keep fluttering your eyelashes, darlin'... they'll fall off." Maybe it's Mr. Spirit of Aloha over here who's gotten Pele miffed. Either way, Logan's attention gets drawn to the edge of the sea, his eyes go wide and he turns and starts lumbering into a run away from the seastart, taking the amp and guitar case with him.

Muriel smirks at Kirk and rolls her eyes, "Ye just had to ruin it, didn't ye. Let's just enjoy this little mystery.." she grins and winks, "I always liked a bit o' danger, but ye be right, tis bad for the lungs, aye.." she glances towards Voly and Mile and smirks, "Ahh, you two again..Is it really that dangerous? I think it be rather lovely.." still, she does pull off her sarong, wrapping it around her mouth like a scarf now. Hey, she's got a delicate voice to protect and all. "I still enjoy watching it, I wonder if there be a storm to match?" looking back at Logan, she chuckles a bit at his sour mood. "Ooh, hit a nerve did I? Perhaps another time then, grumpy." she grins, twirling a ginger curl between her fingers.

Bjorn blinks as Logan starts to head off, and the exchange. He looks to Joa and Muriel, "Someone had a bad day before this even started." Still as he sees the others making their way to shore he decides to follow suit with Logan's plan it seems. "I think I'm gonna head out. I want to be able to breathe normal when I'm teaching class. Take care everyone." He offers a wave to everyone, Joa and the others there that he doesn't even know so well alike, before turning to start to head back from whence he came, though with less the sense of urgency Logan had he still makes his way out.

Kirk startles slightly when the lightning strikes nearby, growing more concerned with the state of things. "No, I had no plans to get deeper into it," he replies to Joachim. "It seems excessively dangerous. I don't think you should either." He squints, peering through the bad air. He turns to Muriel. "We should probably get inside somewhere, before whatever is in the air gets too deep into our lungs. Or get struck by lightning. It's easy enough to watch through glass, after all."

Joachim watched Mila and Volya pile out of the water. "Oh hey it's you guys. Quick Alohas and all... and what the hell is this shit? Is it supposed to be doing that?" He pointed to where the lightning strikes were hitting the sand, stepping away and upwind as best he could, covering his face a bit with his hands. "Wow that smells like... I dunno... a dystopian future. Eau de OCP. Bleh." He frowned at Logan. "You might be pissed and it might be early but hey dude... chill out." He watched the man head off with his amp and his guitar. "I guess I'd be pissed too if all my shit just broke. Not enough for a beer at eight am though." He shrugged and looked back to the roiling mass. He raised an eyebrow at Muriel. "I do NOT want to see the storm that matches this." He pointed at it. "Horrifying shit lives in fog. Giant monsters. Things with too many faces. Undead pirates." He paused, thinking. "You know... fog shit." He gave a nod to Bjorn as the big man took off. "Stay safe and healthy man. I'll tell you how it goes down here." He looked around at Kirk's suggestion, nodding. "Maybe for the best. After all... fog monsters are no joke.:

Mila was striding up the beach now, reaching over to pick up the vest that Volya had pulled off after diving. With her feet firmly planted on the sand, she jumped about 3 feet straight up when the lightning struck at the water line, even though it was a little bit away. "AKUA! What... the?" She blinked, obviously a touch freaked out. "Uh... What is THAT?" She was staring into the Vog, completely flummoxed. Backing away from the water, she reached out to snag onto Volya's arm and drag her toward the group of people. "There's... something... there." She motioned to the area where the first lightning had struck... "And.. Oh wow... there. And there." Her free hand was pointing like it was teaching a class. "Oh god.. It might be way more dangerous than just to the lungs, Muriel. Uh... I can't hardly tell what it is though." She squinted, still moving back away from the water. "Uh, they're moving..."

Volya traded the vest and tank to Mila, "There should weather warnings or---" The random succession caused her to scream and take several jumps, and dropping a flipper as she shook her head wildly. "Nope, no, no." Scrambling to pick up the flipper, "Would like to thank the sky for waiting those two minutes and ultimately sparing my life, if not my hearing." She blinked a couple of times, her eye darting between Mila and Muriel, "What? I think so... Who's singing a G flat?"

The Lightning that had been going on through the Vog seemed to silence itself entirely, no more thunder, no more pale, sickly glowing threads of burning atmosphere through the dense vog. Aside from the ringing people might well have in their ears for being so close to lightning strikes, the sounds were entirely that of the ocean, waves hitting the shore and crashing, though they were muted as if the Vog captured the sound and swallowed it whole. Sure enough, as the Vog moved to overtake most of the group (save for Logan who was running off just ahead of it, and Bjorn who had taken off to head to class), shapes could be seen. Large, shadowy figures. One of which was a man a touch shorter but broader than Bjorn. The other looked to be a very, very large crab. It came up to at least waist height on most people on the beach, and in Mila's short-stature'd case, it came up to about her chest.

As the lumbering shape of the man-type-figure came a little more obviously into view, it was superceded by a huge, round, flying object... The nature of the object didn't really become obvious until it hit Kirk full on, shattering into a pile of sand around the man's feet, but the hit was certainly not a love tap. Luckily, the projectile was just packed, damp, sand, and likely did more damage getting in the eyes than anything else.

Kirk looks over as Mila starts to point out.. things in the fog. Which draws him to look towards the direction she's pointing. The man's eyes squinting. Only to have those eyes widen when something flies out of the fog at him. He stiffens for an instant, then jerks back and to the side instinctively. Arms up, warding against the surprise assault. Between those movements, he protects himself from the brunt of the force and is subsequently covered in sand. Some of it getting into his mouth, though his eyes snapped shut just in time. He ends up sputtering and spitting for a moment. "What the hell!?" He almost sounds offended.. and it's one of the first times he's really just.. raised his voice. Anyone who knows how to fight can spot a man who has probably never been in a real fight. Like ever.

Mila seemed a bit miffed about the fact that the huge man-shaped thing started throwing things. In fact, her tone of voice was one of complete anger as if she'd changed gears down to low and had just started revving her engine. "HEY! 'Apana! What the hell you doing, Brah?" She moved up through the vog, straight up to the thing and pushed out with both hands toward its chest. Subsequently, it shifted to the side like sand was able to do, and was completely out of her reach only a breath later. It left Mila looking stunned, and she stared at the huge shadowy figure with complete shock. "It's... Sand." She called it back over her shoulder, hoping others might hear her over the din in their ears and the crash of the waves.

The sandSnake wasn't seen by anyone yet. It kept itself nice and sneaky as it approached the group. Not that any of them knew it.

As Mila points out things moving in the fog, Joachim nodded and clapped his hand. "Fog monsters! Nothing ever comes out of the fog and just says hello..." As Kirk got smacked in the face with a ball of sand he gestured. "See?" He called out to the man. "These things are not friendly! Duck and weave Kirk!" He watched the other man, highly curious for a moment even as he focused on the sand beasts. "What the hell could you be? Sand people... sand people. There's a sand crab. Crab people... crab people." He shook his head. "No no... focus now." He swore. "Yeah... sand! Nothing but sand. They probably don't have brains which means they probably don't have nervous systems so just pound em into the ground! The lightning brought them to life! Someone's controlling them!"

Logan gets a short distance away - far enough to be sure that the lightning has stopped, and to drop off the box and the case with some care - and then he's turning to lumber back towards the others. He reaches for his cuffs on the way back, only to remember that he's in short sleeves these days.

The tide is low and ebbing.

Muriel's joking around and enjoying the displays of nature abruptly stop when the thick vog surrounding them soon masks the presence of..Sand-critters!?! "..The hell!? What are those things?!" she narrows her eyes, peering through the vog, trying without any luck to figure out what the heck's going on. Then Kirk suddenly gets hit by sand and her eyes widen, glancing back at him. That's either a really bad practical joke or...She steps towards him, "Kirk, you alright?" there's the slightest hint of concern in her voice, moreso for one who claims to care little for those around her. "Dammit. I shoulda followed Bjorn..." still, she bears a crazy grin on her face, enjoying the rush of danger, even though she too, is not particularly experienced in such situations. Joa is given a slight raised brow of curiousity as he rambles on. "Sand crab..People? Seriously?" oy, but she's seen weirder, so.

"Tis is the second time me beachball game got cancelled. Now I'm pissed.." cold eyes gleam dangerously as she traces a circle in the air, murmuring something beneath her breath as the air suddenly grows colder around her. She draws upon the moisture and cold in the air, pointing a finger towards the sandcrab that just blasted Kirk, "Die!" crystals form into a blade of ice before her, rushing through the air towards the sand creature, attempting to impale it or freeze it if she can.

The SandCrab made a violent shudder as it was impaled by the spear of Ice that Muriel had sent its way. Wherever it was planning on skittering to, it changed course and came right at the red-headed songstress, pinchers making weird, slippery sounds as they clamped and opened. Soon, it was right next to Muriel and wrapped one of its huge pincers around her waist, pulling her closer and holding pretty damn solidly for a creature made entirely of damp, oceanic, sand.

Volya's pace ground to a halt as Mila peeled off to run back into the fog. "Wait... I thought we were..." Kirk getting smacked caused her eyes to be wide as Mila started pushing at figures in vog. Coughing, she shook her head as turned to face the vog, raising her palm towards it. Blinking her watering eyes, she shouted, "Mila! Is this one of those Papa and Rangi, pregnant island and ultra horny husband? Because if the sky had a dick to get it on with the island, it would be lightning right?" Coughing again, she waved her hand, "Seriously, because if I get started, it just steam rolls--" Staring at the shards of ice form, Volya's eyes flared a vivid green as she added with a giggle, "Nevermind..." Sweeping her arm in a wide, the vog around followed and curled around her on a heated breeze as green veins grew through her skin. The woman started singing, "These embers burn down low..." And the vog spun and sparked into a tail of flame that slithered across the air, striking and blackening the Sand Man.

The huge form of the sandman seemed to look between Volya and Mila for a moment. But as Mila was right there on hand, the upper body of the huge, shadowy form simply swung around, bringing a fist along the side of her shoulder, skating it up along her head and then over her, as if it might have slightly misjudged her height.

Kirk shakes his head one last time and seems.. upset. Even angry at what is going on around him. When the crab.. thing grabs at Muriel, his ire seems to spike. His hands snap together, cupped with a few inches between them. The action instinctive. Practiced. He draws in a breath and as he does so, the hazy air between his hands starts to swirl rapidly. He breathes out and his right hand snaps outward in a rake with his fingers hooked. The swirling wind seems to blast out, cutting four lines of briefly clean air through the haze. Cutting sharply into the body of the crab as if invisible claws were brought to bear, digging into the nasty thing. No pithy comments, just direct, clear action. Chunks of once frosted sand go flying, compromising the thing's bodily integrity.

Mila wasn't pleased with the situation in the slightest, having been smacked upside the head and shoulder by coarse sand, she looked even madder than she had at first. Naturally, her first instinct was now to GET IN THERE. And get in there she did, lauching her shorter frame at the sandman and wrapping her arms and legs around it, attempting to force its arms and legs into a useless position. Shockingly, the muscular woman managed to do so, ending up on its back, her arms around its arms and holding them back and down while her legs wrapped forward and her feet wedged into its crotch to keep it from easily using its legs. "Vee! Again.. just don't hit me!"

Where there was no snake previously, suddenly there was a snake. A huge snake. A huge snake make of pure sand as it came up from the ground under Logan's feet. It took no time at all for the giant reptile to launch itself up from the ground and meet its head directly into Logan's, giving the man a solid, sandy hit to the jaw like it had been spring loaded. Surprise!

Watching the sand creatures assault the others, Joachim frowned, shaking his head as he tried to clear it of vog and it's choking effects. "This isn't right.. this isn't right at all!" He called out, his eyes turning a bright yellow as the Sight empowered his vision. "There's something inside each one! A glass structure that was created by the lightning strike! That's what's animating them." He frowned and swore. "Who is doing it I have no idea... try to destroy it if you can!" He let out a yelp and leapt back as Logan was suddenly assaulted from below. "Oh fuck another one!"

Logan gets well and truly staggered by the uppercut from the sandy serpent, but he staggers forward again a moment later, his fingers formed into fists. "I've had worse from my girlfriend's granddaughter," he informs the 'beast' - although it seems he was more staggered than he realised, his knuckles passing a fraction of an inch away from it as it rears back again.

The vog is a lightened grey-brown haze in the light of mid-day.

Muriel twirls away as the sandcrab reaches out its claws towards her..But it's a second too quick, and she's caught in its deadly and surprisingly solid pinchers, struggling to break free. "Well, darling, if ye wanted a dance, why didnt ye just ask nicely?" she purrs, almost seeming to enjoy this little game. Though as she is not particularly strong or trained in the martial arts, she seems to have trouble wriggling free of its strong grasp. "Fine then, how about we cool down a little?" grey eyes flash dangerously again, grasping the creatures 'arms', summoning more of that frosted cold as she leans forward to try and kiss the thing on the mouth, all the while attempting to freeze its sandy body with swirls of ice and snow that emanate from her hands and her cold lips.

Crystalline ice crystals whirl more rapidly around the creature, assisted by the wind that Kirk pours into his slice attack. After stepping back from the deadly kiss, Muriel is finally able to wriggle free of its grasp and watches in gleeful delight as the sandy creature is momentarily encased in ice, then freezes and shatters into hundreds of little pieces, crumbling before her very eyes. "Fool, teach you to mess with me." she turns away, idly brushing a strand of ginger out of her cool eyes, wiping the sand from her still frosted lips.

Volya narrowed her eyes as the Sandman struck at Mila and was immediately grappled by the woman. "And with my face aglow..." The honeyed words rolled off her tongue as she ran straight into the vog at the sandman. With a push of her hands to direct the volcanic fog into a spear of flame that lashed and twisted into the silicate abdomen where it immediately glowed and started to flow. With a scream, Volya swept her hand to force a jet of Summer wind into the molten glass to bubble it out and cause it to pop with steam. Growling, Volya mindlessly started itching her forearms, "I HATE THIS WEATHER!"

Being attacked while its arms and legs were held fast didn't seem to have the SandMan's temper any better off than Mila or Kirk's at the moment. While it made no scream, no noise, the fact that its movements became aggitated and violently rough after being lanced through by Volya's vicious lance of burn indicated just how frustrated it might be. It flailed, then battered at Mila with its fists along her arms and side of her head, the joints of the being not what a human's would be so it was able to turn them in unnatural ways. By the time Mila fell off the back of the SandMan she looked stunned, and her face carried a bright pink glow as if it had been freshly sandblasted along with her arms and neck.

Kirk is stunned for an instant. Like when you take that first shot at someone and lay them out with one punch. Which leaves him a bit stunned while Muriel finishes off the sand crab. But he quickly notices that Mila is having some issues with the humanoid thing. He keeps himself from overthinking in that moment. Drawing his hands back together, recapturing that swirling wind. The first attempt seems to have bolstered his confidence, the man fixing his eyes on the man shaped thing. More deliberately he sweeps his hand out, as if casting forward the swirling wind. Those same invisible threads seem to slice through the hazy air, lasting at the sand creature, blowing away chunks of it's mass, again compromising it's integrity. It's so easy.. A hint of excitement in his eyes, yet clouded too with concern. Thought he warring thoughts don't stop him from being effective. He knows what he's doing, even if he lacks practical experience.

Seeing Muriel take out the crab caused Mila's eyes to widen, and she called out a loud "HELL YEAH, Brah!" to the redhead ice mercenary. Then Mila shook her head, trying to get it back in the game. The screaming Volya coming at the SandMan and driving her lance through it caused Mila's eyes to glint dangerously, and then the wind picking away slices off of the creature thanks to Kirk had her smile curve into something triumphant. "Time to take a dirt nap, you glassy fucker!" And she launched herself at the SandMan with a primordial scream of intense rage. Fists flew and Mila pummeled the sand as it started to crumble, then contined to do so, beating it until it was a pile of loose, damp sand on the beach. Once she had it down to its crumbled state, she grabbed the slightly hot core of it and threw it onto the ground by Volya, pointing at it. "Destroy those! If the Crab had one too, destroy it, Muriel!"

The snake at Logan's feet wasn't satisfied to give up the fight, at least not when it wasn't even taking any damage in return. The SandSnake lunged up, this time going for Logan's core. It drove into Logan's torso with a series of heavy thumps, like it was trying to eventually come through the other side.

Joachim was staring, admittedly so, at the madness that was going on around him. His eyes glowed bright in the morning fog as he surveyed those around him, taking in Kirk's impressive wind manipulation in and smiling. As Muriel turned the crab to ice and shattered it Joachim let out a whoop and a cheer. "Way to go!" With the sandman turned to shards by Volya, he left her and Mila to deal with as he turned on the sand snake. Shaking, he passed a hand over his eyes shutting down the sight as he began to mutter in Coptic. The smell of ozone returned, followed by that of burning as the man blasted out a stream of plasma directly at the Sandsnake, rolling over it and turning it's sandy body partially to glass. He choked and coughed, shaking his head in the vog. "Oh ugh that doesn't help at all..." He spat in to the sand and started to move in, wings unfurling as he prepared to fight.

Logan gets hammered in the torso by the snake - but in order to hammer him, the thing's had to get within reach of his fists. Using his low centre of gravity to his advantage, as he has a thousand times before, Logan gets his balance back rather more quickly than his opponent expects, while the thing is busy trying to cope with being more solid than intended. He takes a moment to judge the blow, then strikes; from the point where his fist connects with the sandworm a ripple of tiny cracks spreads across the entire glassy surface, and deep within the serpent's structure.

Muriel peers around likewise at the chaos going on around her, looking quite impressed at Kirk's wind slicing, and of course she has already encountered Joachim's weirdness. Volya's equally fiery magic gets an appraised look from her, still curious about the source of her powers. She grins and winks, flipping her hair stylishly as she turns to face the last sandcritter, pausing only briefly to glance at Mila, arching a brow, "The core, huh?" peering at the remains of the sandcrab, she has hopefully frozen and shattered the core already, but right now, the bigger threat seems to be the sandsnake. "Alright, let's take care of this bastard first.." she narrows her eyes, lifting a hand to the sky, a cruel smile curling on her lips as a crystalline helix of ice crystals swirl about her, and she begins to sing in that cold voice of hers as she steps towards the sand snake..

Mr. Sandman bring me a dream, Make him the cutest that Ive ever seen Give him two lips like roses and clover Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over....!

Pressing a finger to her lips, she blows a kiss at the snakey sand monster, this time unleashing a shower of razor sharp icicles upon its sandy body, impaling the monster multiple times then, assisted by Logan's mighty blows, shattering the glassy body easily into hundreds of frosty glassy pieces.

The tide is low and slack.

Volya glanced down at the core of the Sandman at her feet. Dangling her index finger in the air, Vee started drawing circle after circle until a dust devil built over the fulgurite until the cone of wind burst into flames. The conflagration reheating the glass to molten until it poured towards the waves. A giggle rang out of Volya as she rose on a toe and performed a spin cycle. "Uhh... Does reformed count as destroyed? I mean I could go hotter."

With the conflict over, Kirk takes a breath, his hands slowly drawing apart, the swirling wind between them dispersing silently. He still looks conflicted. Troubled. After a moment he looks towards Muriel and says to her, "You should find shelter from the hazy air. I.. I need to go." Though he pauses a moment to add, "Be safe." After that he turns, starting away. He seems oddly lacking in pride for what he's done. It bothers him, but obviously he has no intent to speak on it in the now.

Mila lifted a hand to Kirk and called out with a slightly Vog strangled voice "Aloha kakahiaka, mahalo for the help, brah!" Then she coughed sharply, wheezing a little at the end of it before she looked over at the shard that Volya melted to slagged glass that mixed with the surrounding sand. "Nice job, pupule wahine, let's make sure the rest of those nasty things are totally done, neh?" And with that, Mila went over to start digging into the frosty sands left over her finger catching on the weird heat at the center of it as she dug through the mass. She flinched slightly, then pushed at the core until it was exposed. "There it is. Good god. Thought my hands were gonna freeze right off." She tucked her hands in under her armpits and stood back from the still pulsing, sickly glow of the core shard. "Did anyone find the snakey-thing's core shard thing?"

As the snake dissolved into shards of glass, Joachim grinned widely at Muriel. "Holy shit that was great!" He started casting about, stopping to watch as Volya turned the piece of unnatural glass into total slag. "Thank you Volya. Shit where are the others?" He started hunting around along with Mila, looking in the corpse of the now icey snake. He was quick enough and managed to pull it out of the wreckage, likewise blowing on his hands. "Jesus crap that's cold. Good job Muriel." He held the core up. "I've got the other one."

Logan bends down to pick a formerly-serpentine glass shard up, then steps back from the heap of glass shards at his feet. He starts to look around, his lips moving. Whatever he's saying, it's under his breath; his hands come up in front of him, his fingers weaving intricate patterns in the air in front of him as he turns.

Muriel lets out a deep breath, grinning and winking at Volya as she fries the second core. "Way to go, Volya. Sooo...That just leaves one core to deal with, aye..?" she peers around, wondering why she gives a damn, but at the very least, Muriel would rather not have to deal with a revived sand monster trying to squeeze the life out of her. When Kirk turns to leave, she smiles and nods, "Aye, see you later, Kir." she pulls the sarong scarf around her mouth a bit, breathing a bit more heavily now - that magic took a bit out of her and she's not used to casting much at all. For now, Muriel moves towards the shattered remains of the sand crab, looking for the core.."Joa, you found it? Ok how do we destroy it?" she peers at it, feeling a bit spent now.

Volya stared at Mila as she moved over to the sand crab, Vee's nostril twitching. Hopping over the molten glass at her feet, she frolicked and skipped her way over to the exposed crab core, pausing next to Mila. Grinning like the green-glowing eyed madwoman she was, Volya slipped behind Mila to slip a hand in front of her abdomen as the other took Mila's hand to hers to guide it. Slowly waving their hands until the warm breeze around them danced and flew, build a vog swirl above them. "And... Toe pick." She gestured down to the core with Mila's hand, the vog whipping down and flaring into a blue-green flame to melt the core into boiling glass.

The tide is low and rising.

Mila's eyes widened as Volya came up behind her and helped her follow along with the leader as Vee performed her little church burning on the shard. Blinking as the heat rose up from the melting glass, Mila attempted to keep her eyes from watering with all the Vog and steam and what not. The fact that the woman was now rather hot to the touch helped with the cold hands, but it did draw a hiss of surprise from Mila as she looked back over her shoulder at Vee and raised her brows. "Damn, baby. You're on fire." She promptly kissed Volya square on the mouth, still grinning at her little joke, before she turned to face front again and looked over at Logan. "Did you melt the snake one, over there? And is everyone alright? That was some crazy shit."

Logan looks up from his hands, his eyes tracking something as he does so. It's just a few moments before he grimaces. "Damnit. Lost 'em."

Joachim held the shard, looking at it this way and that. He frowned as he nodded at Muriel. "Yeah I can smash it. I mean... a hammer probably could right?" He held it in his palm as the air around it started to warp. Watching it carefully, it began to fold up in on itself, the sound of glass shattering as the shard was compressed enormously, massive gravities reducing it to nothing in seconds. "There... that's about as non-extant as something gets right?" He looked towards Logan, nodding at the man. "Thanks for coming back. You alright?" He smiled at Muriel, shaking his head. "That's a new one. Pretty impressive stuff." He sighed and moved, sweeping away the vog in front of him as he coughed. He turned his attention to Mila and Volya. "I... have no idea what this was. The volcanic fog kept me from figuring out where it was all coming from but this was deliberate." He sighed. "Thank you. Everyone else all right?" He grinned at the two women. "You two are still kicking ass. Thanks for that. I got a little wrapped up."

Muriel sighs tiredly, rubbing her temples. She's not used to casting magic or fighting monsters, not that she is one to show weakness if she can help it. "Heh.." she smirks, flipping her hair. "Piece of cake, almost fun, except..Dammit, that's the second time me attempt at a game of beachball got..Interrupted." she narrows her eyes, glaring at the remains of the sand critters, peering thoughtfully at Volya and her heat..Yeah, she'd rather not get too close to that one. Glancing at Logan she just grins, "Having fun yet? Well, I should get going...Joa..Perhaps ye can teach me sometime how to better weild me magic. Til next time, hmm?" with a smile and wink, she squeezes his shoulder briefly before striding off.

Volya grinned at Mila, clicking her tongue. "And that is exactly how we never make it back to the condo..." Humming a long note, she glanced at Joachim and back to Mila. "I do believe that is need of a door..." Blinking her emerald-daygrow eyes, tears streaking her cheeks. Then she outright screamed at Joachim out of nowhere, "IT IS THE ASSAULT OF THE MUCOUS MEMBRANES! It is evil!" Squeezing Mila's hand, Volya dragged the woman two steps to the dune beast, stopping, and blinking. "I'm not even sure where I'm going..." She looked around for a moment, glancing at Joachim and tilting her head. "It was good smashing by the way, it was... Heavy." A nervous giggle slipped out as she scratched at her eye, "Is brain coming out or am I running dry?"

"No problem," says Logan to Joachim. "I'm fine, nothing that won't walk off." At least some of his grouchy seems to have worn off with the fight. "Thanks to all of youse for not leaving me to deal with it solo." And then he's heading off, back towards where he left the amp and the guitar case. He vanishes into the yellow fog, and there's only bootprints, a pile of glass shards and a lingering sense of grouchiness in the air to say he'd ever been.

Mila chuckled darkly, then turned her head to cough as more of the vog seemed to be in her lungs than air. "Dammit, going to need to use the nebulizer when we get to the condo. This shit is terrible." She smiled to Joachim and winked. "Nice job, everyone, really. I think I'm gonna get Vee back to the condo before she turns inside out and starts screeching like a pterydactyl." Mila moved to pick up the things they'd dropped, making it so that Volya didn't have to carry anything. It didn't seem to bother the obviously strong woman to do so, and she didn't mention it as she walked over and nudged Volya in the direction of the parking lot. "Come on, baby, the jeep's in the lot still. We can get out of this crap fast and go up the pass. The air up there will be a ton better than it is down here where the vog hit." She lifted a hand laden with scuba gear toward Joachim and the leaving Logan and Muriel. "Aloha kakahiaka, and you guys stay safe. Or safer." Then she started walking to lead Volya to the safety of cleaner air.
